Corporate Event Photography: Genomics in Vouliagmeni, Athens
I recently spent several days documenting a major corporate event for Genomics, a global leader in genetic insight and precision medicine. The event was held at the iconic Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso in Vouliagmeni, a premier location on the Athenian Riviera that provided a sophisticated backdrop for this multi-day gathering.
A Documentary Approach to Corporate Culture
While corporate events are a regular part of my portfolio, my approach is anything but standard. I prefer a documentary style that moves away from overly staged poses and focuses instead on authentic human interaction.
For Genomics—a team of world-class scientists and engineers from Oxford, Cambridge, and Boston—it was important to capture the energy of their collaboration. From the keynote speeches by board members to the high-energy team-building games, I aimed to showcase the people behind the science and how they interact as a global community.
Modern Deliverables: Vertical & Social-First
Understanding how modern companies communicate, I focused heavily on vertical imagery. Most corporate events today live on social media platforms and mobile-first websites. By shooting with these formats in mind, I provided the Genomics team with a library of images ready for immediate use on their social presence, ensuring the "vibe" of the Athens meeting was communicated effectively.
Perspectives from Above: Drone Group Photography
One of the highlights of the event was capturing the entire global team in a single image. Using a drone for aerial photography, I was able to stage a large group shot that showcased the scale of the Genomics organization against the beautiful coastal setting of Vouliagmeni.
