This project with A&M Architects for the InMind showroom and offices is a perfect example of how high-end architectural photography has evolved into a truly multidisciplinary effort. When a firm as established as A&M handles a relocation and expansion of this scale, the photography needs to be just as calculated as the design.
For the InMind shoot, I worked alongside a dedicated team—including a stylist and an architect—who provided on-site art direction. I always welcome this level of collaboration; it ensures that every angle we capture aligns perfectly with the firm's original vision for the space.
Architectural & Showroom Photography: InMind by A&M Architects
I recently collaborated with A&M Architects to document the new InMind showroom and offices in Athens. This project was a high-level production involving a dedicated team—including a stylist and an architect—who provided on-site art direction.
In a space defined by "exhibit & feel" furniture and complex textures, the photography required a highly technical approach to ensure the final images reflected the quality of the materials.
The Science of Light: Compositing & Remote Control
High-end architectural photography rarely relies on available light alone. To ensure a professional result every time, I utilize a complex compositing workflow. By using a tablet to control my artificial lights remotely, I can "paint" the room with light, one section at a time.
This process allows me to:
Enhance Natural Light: We rarely have the luxury of shooting only during the "perfect" hour. My lighting setup mimics and enhances natural light to create a bright, inviting atmosphere at any time of day.
Highlight Textures & Materials: InMind’s showroom features carefully selected fabrics and surfaces. Using artificial light strategically allows me to "carve out" these textures, showing details that would otherwise be lost in flat, natural lighting.
Create Flawless Composites: By taking multiple shots with different light placements and blending them in post-production, I can guarantee a balanced, high-impact image that looks natural but feels extraordinary.
Collaborative Art Direction
This technical setup also makes collaboration much more efficient. With the architect and stylist viewing a high-resolution feed on the tablet, they can see exactly how the lighting is interacting with the design. This real-time feedback loop ensures that the final "hero" shots perfectly align with the firm's vision for the showroom’s "fluid identity.
Guaranteed Quality in Any Condition
The reality of commercial photography is that we must be productive under any constraints. Whether the sun is cooperating or the schedule is tight, my use of digital composites and remote lighting ensures that I can provide a consistent, five-star result that meets the standards of a top-tier firm like A&M Architects.
