Superyacht Photography: The Benetti M/Y Oak
I recently had the opportunity to document the M/Y Oak, a 35m masterpiece from the Italian shipyard Benetti. Following an extensive refit in 2022, this Classic 115' yacht features a refined interior by the legendary French designer Zuretti. Capturing a vessel of this pedigree requires a balance between the grandeur of its Mediterranean lifestyle and the meticulous detail of its high-end craftsmanship.
Maximizing the Single-Day Production
Time is the most critical factor when shooting a charter yacht of this scale. To ensure the owner gets the highest return on their investment without overextending the crew, I execute these projects as a concentrated single-day production.
Our day begins at the marina well before dawn. By starting pre-dawn, we are ready to catch the "blue hour" and the first soft morning light, which is essential for showcasing the yacht's exterior lines and the deck Jacuzzi in their most inviting state.
Technical Precision: The "Showroom" Approach to Interiors
Because the M/Y Oak features such sophisticated interior styling by Zuretti, I apply the same technical workflow I use for high-end architectural projects like the InMind showroom.
Tablet-Controlled Lighting: I work with a tablet to control my artificial lights remotely. This allows me to move freely through the 5 guest suites and the master cabin, "painting" the space with light to highlight specific textures, wood grains, and fabrics that natural light alone can’t capture.
Lighting Composites: By taking multiple exposures and blending them, I can guarantee a perfect view through the portholes and windows while keeping the interior perfectly illuminated. This ensures a professional, high-impact result regardless of the time of day or the sun's position.
Collaboration & Control: The tablet allows for real-time review of every frame, ensuring that the composition is perfect and every luxury amenity—from the private beach club to the Portuguese bridge—is documented with absolute clarity.
Luxury Marine Media in Greece
Whether the Oak is cruising to Mykonos or anchored in the Saronic Gulf, my goal is to provide imagery that matches the prestige of a €100k-a-week charter experience. By combining a disciplined, early-morning schedule with advanced architectural lighting techniques, I deliver a complete visual package that helps brokers and owners stand out in a competitive global market.
