Marine & Industrial Photography: Spanopoulos Shipyards
I recently spent some time documenting the scale and daily grit of Spanopoulos Shipyards. If you’ve spent any time around the ports of Piraeus, Perama, or Salamina Island, you know the energy of that area is something else. As the largest shipyard in Greece, the sheer size of the vessels and the constant activity made this a project I really enjoyed sinking my teeth into.
There is something honest and raw about industrial photography that I’ve always appreciated. I loved the challenge of capturing the textures, the massive engineering, and the "organized chaos" that defines a working yard.
The Collaboration
I wasn’t alone on this one. My associate, Dimitris Tzankatian, joined me to handle the aerial drone photography and video footage. You really can’t appreciate the footprint of a place like the Salamina shipyard until you see it from above; the perspective from the air adds a completely different layer to the story.
A Glimpse into the Production
The team at Spanopoulos needed a fresh library of marine photography and videography for their upcoming website and social media. The goal was to show the world the scale of their brand and the hard work that happens behind the scenes every day.
What you see here is just a small glimpse of the full production. It was a great experience working in the heart of Greece’s maritime industry, and I’m looking forward to seeing these images go live.
