Superyacht Photography: The 45m Codecasa "Xana"
Documenting a vessel like M/Y Xana is a different undertaking altogether. A 45-meter superyacht of this caliber requires a more patient, architectural approach to photography. I spent two full days on board to capture her following an extensive 36-month rebuild that essentially turned her into a brand-new yacht.
Built by the renowned Italian shipyard Codecasa, Xana is a masterclass in steel and aluminum engineering, now complemented by a stunningly neutral and modern interior by AMK Architecture & Design.
Capturing the Refit Excellence
My focus for this two-day shoot was to highlight the sophisticated redesign. The interiors are defined by a neutral color palette and enlarged windows that flood the cabins with Aegean light. In superyacht interior photography, the challenge is to balance that natural light with the internal textures—the fine fabrics of the six guest suites and the polished finishes of the main deck master.

We also spent significant time on the exterior decks, from the expansive sundeck with its Jacuzzi and bar to the massive new swim platform. My goal was to show the "liveability" of the ship—the warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it a premier choice for luxury charters in the Mediterranean.
The Details that Matter
Beyond the wide-angle architectural shots, I focused on the features that set Xana apart: the underwater lighting that transforms her profile at night, the high-end tenders, and the sheer scale of her 147-foot frame. Every image was meticulously processed to ensure the colors of the Mediterranean sea and the yacht’s sleek exterior were perfectly represented.
